ワンワールド・ウィズ・ワラーチ・プロジェクト
二本の足と二輪で日本を元気に
かつては私も大型バイクに乗っていました。もちろん片山氏はそのことを知った上で、私 にバトンリレーの参加要請をしたのです。だが今現在、私はバイクには乗っていません。 しかし私はこれまでに20回以上もフルマラソンを走っています。つまり40キロの距離な ら、自分の二本の足を使ってバトンを繋ぐことができます。さらに、私は昨年から自家製のサンダル「ワラーチ」を履いて走るようになりました。
「ワラーチ」とはメキシコのインディオ「タラウマラ族」の人々が、古タイヤをリサイク ルして作ったサンダルで、彼らはそのサンダルで100キロ以上もの距離を走ると言われて います。私も昨秋に自分自身で製作した「ワラーチ」でフルマラソンを完走しています。 この「ワラーチ」は「裸足で走る」ことと同様に、人間本来が持つ足腰の強さを引き出す と考えられており、靴によって奪われた人間の本来の強さを取り戻すモノです。 それは自然災害に立ち向かう我々の人間の強さを象徴してくれる存在とも言えます。 昨年、奇しくも3月11日から、この「ワラーチ・ランニング」を始めた私は、この「ワ ラーチ」を履いて、片山氏に被災地支援の気持ちを伝えたいと考えたのです。私の足のサイズは27センチです。おそらくバイクのタイヤの接地面積もそれほど変わらな いでしょう。 二本の足と二本のタイヤ。これで東北 を、日本を元気づけることが出来れば・・・
「ワラーチ」を履いて河口湖の自宅を出発して、神戸までバトンと支援金を届ける。 そして片山氏はバトンと支援金、そして神戸まで走り切った「ワラーチ」を私から受け取 り、それをバイクで被災地へ届ける。
これが「 OneWorld with Huaraches Project」です。

1958 年大阪生まれ。
20代は雑誌「ポパイ」の顔としてファッションモデルとして活躍したが、その後、 30 代に入りアウトドア関連の著作を多数執筆。
現在は河口湖に拠点を置き、執筆、取材、キャンプ教室の指導、講演など、幅広く 活動している。
また各企業の広告などにも数多く出演しており、そのアドバイザーも務めている

Cheer Japan with a pair of foot and a pair of wheel
I used to ride a large motorcycle. Takazumi, the former WGP champion reached out to me suggesting that I join the baton relay knowing that fact. But I no longer ride motorcycles. I've been into running and have finished more than twenty full marathons. I am capable of passing the baton by running on my own feet.
I've been running with hand-made sandals Huaraches since last year.
It is said that a Mexican tribe Tarahumara people run more than 100km wearing huaraches made with old tires. I made myself huaraches and finished a full marathon last autumn for the first time. Running in huaraches is just the same as running barefoot. They help you recuperate your latent physique, maximize your potential, which was dormant because of shoes. They symbolize the strength of us people who stand up against the natural disasters. Coincidentally, I started running with huaraches on March 11, the day that Tohoku earthquake occurred. I decided to tell Takazumi my will to support the project and the devastated areas with my huaraches.
My foot size is 27cm, I think the ground contact area of a motorcycle tire is about the same. A pair of foot and a pair of wheel... I thought to myself, I could inspire Tohoku and Japan with them.
Delivering the baton and donations to Kobe from my house in Lake Kawaguchi with Huaraches is my mission. Takazumi will be handed the baton and donations, and my huaraches from me, and he will deliver them to the devastated areas.
This is One World with Huaraches Project.

Tokichi Kimura
Born in Osaka, 1958.
In his 20's, he appeared in fashion magazine covers such as "POPEYE" magazine as a fashion model. In his 30's, he got into writing and authored many books about the outdoors.
Currently he resides in Lake Kawaguchiko and does various type of work such as writing, appearing on the media, coaching camp schools and talk shows.
He appears on many advertisements and commercials and also takes role of an adviser as well.
